Concealer Love: The Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Makeup

Is it concealer or is it foundation? At first sight I assumed that the new Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Makeup (P725) was a foundation since it comes in a fat tube that looks like your typical stick base. Upon first swipe though, I realized it's closer to a concealer! The coverage is heavy and the formula adheres to my skin in a jiffy; foundations are usually more creamy and gives more leeway for blending.

I love this stuff. Stick concealers are the quickest products to use for hiding blemishes or just generally evening out a big area, as you know, so it pays to keep one on hand. They're the least fussy of the lot and it's almost impossible to make a mistake during application. Indeed, one swipe of Revlon's Insta-Fix Makeup is enough to cover a dark cluster of blemishes and the darkness around my nose and mouth! I can conceal with this in a hot minute.

The formula also stays put even when I sweat or oil up. I'd say it lasts around five to six hours on my oily skin before it starts to crease and fade; I don't worry so much though, as it's easy to pat back into place. I'm impressed by how well it sets...for a cream concealer! These buggers tend to remain a bit wet if they aren't set with powder correctly.

The shade I have with me is Natural Beige. There are only five shades available and Natural Beige is second to the lightest one. Curiously though, it renders a bit tan on my medium skin tone - it's not even remotely close to looking like a beige, at least when swatched on my skin. It has a slight orange tone to it that is strange for a shade that should be in the light-medium to medium range.

Sorry if my skin looks different from my arm above; I took the pictures under different lighting. I concentrated the product mostly on my chin but it doesn't look like I'm wearing any!

Nevertheless, it blends onto my face with no trouble. I just swipe once, pat it down with my fingers or a dense brush, then set it with my powder foundation. I can not emphasize enough how quick and fuss-free this is to use!

The weird shade selection is a bit daunting, but if you can find one that suits you, then I think that the Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Makeup will make you a happy girl (or boy). It's long-wearing, it's easy to blend, and lives up to its "insta-fix" claims. ^_^ It also has 6.8 grans of product in the tube, about two lipsticks' worth. If you must insist, you can also use it as a foundation. Just make sure to thin the coverage down with a dense brush or a wet sponge.

So, do you think this concealer is for you? I'd love to hear your feedback if you've already tried it!
